Women's Council of Realtors Annual Tea Party, Corona California

Woman's Council fo Realtors of Riverside County Annual Tea PartyToday I was out covering the Annual Spring Tea event for the Women's Council of Realtors at the Hidden Valley Golf Course in Norco. This has been the second event I've been invited to and was more than happy to donate my time. This years "Hat's Off to You" tea party was a tremendous success and was sold out.  The event was beautifully decorated and a joy to photograph.  I will be posting a video slide show shortly.

The Women’s Council of REALTORS® is a Nationwide community of Real Estate Professionals who include many of the best and brightest in our business. WCR is an affiliate of the National Association of REALTOR®. The Inland Empire chapter of WCR is a relatively new chapter and yet, we have been
active in our community and worked with many worthwhile organizations and projects. Inland Empire
WCR has supported the Ronald McDonald House, Project Kids, Inspire and other local charities that need
our assistance.

Does Brand Matter?

I came across this video of a survey question asking "Does Brand Matter"?  In the case of this video they are referring to larger brokers/franchises that many agent affiliate themselves with. If the feedback of the video holds true than my question to you is, "What are you doing to brand yourself?" comes to mind. Are you creating a recognizable brand of yourself in your marketplace? Are you creating a buzz in your farm where people are going to remember you when it comes time to buy or sell real estate? Are you building yourself up for the next real estate phase to position yourself as a real estate market leader?

The Apple iPad for Real Estate

Will real estate agents find the iPad useful for running and managing their day to day workflow. The form factor, applications and applications may be just what the doctor ordered. Imagine not having to crack open a laptop and not having to power it up to show or prospects photos of that listing of yours. Imagine sitting at an open house showing visitors the other properties available in the area without having to fumble around with a keyboard or mouse.  I personally find the idea of using the iPad for a listing presentation very appealing.

For current iPhone owners, log into the appstore on iTunes and check out all the great iPad compatible applications available already.

Avoid the "New Agent" look to your marketing.

Had a great conversation with a top producing client of ours last week. His recommendation for new agents... Make sure your marketing does not say "NEW AGENT". Meaning if your marketing looks less than professional it will translate as such. I've been seeing examples of that on my own front door and I'm keeping them as examples to show you what I mean. When a marketing piece like that is mailed or dropped on someone door step it usually makes the trash can in seconds flat. A professionally created marketing piece makes the Cork Board or what I call Valuable Hand Time. It may very well make it to the trash but it will register in their minds and make impact setting the stage for future exposure.

Focus on your craft and the rest will follow.

Sunday is my day of rest but my mind is racing with ideas of what I need to do to make Vargas PhotoDesign Bigger and Badder! One thing is sure, I am more committed than ever to make it flourish, one step at at time. It's had it's up's and downs, more up's than downs and I love the ride. I encourage you to focus on the vehicle, whether it's real estate or anything else. It takes work, freaking hard work but it's worth it.  More than likely I will get up at 4 or 5 in the morning to work on myself as that is my time.  Invest in yourself because no one else will.
The toys, the money or big homes and fast cars don't inspire me. Being creative, innovative and developing myself and my business does. Maybe it's just me but I think if people spent more time doing the same the results would be more fulfilling. If you're a Realtor maybe learning how to communicate, sell or market yourself effectively. Learn to give a winning listing presentation that delivers unique value. Learn how to prospect and connect with with people in a genuine way rather than trying to close them in a text book fashion. Don't close yourself off to education. Yes, you can learn all you need by visiting the school of hard knocks but you can learn a lot from people that have done that before you. Pay for it if you have to, it could be the best money you've ever spent. Invest in yourself!
This post developed after looking at a vision board I had created of all the things I wanted and places I wanted to visit. That board has over time become more of a cork board with stuff that has little value to me. Stuff that doesn't light my fire. My focus for the last few years has been on improving and nourishing my craft as well as myself. Because of this my business has grown and my services have been requested from near and far. I will gradually begin replace those items on the vision board with ideas of where I want to continue to take Vargas PhotoDesign and I know the rest will fall into place. Focus on your craft and the rest will follow!

New Realtor Branding Design - Michelle Theisen, Prudential California Realty

Click for larger view. Here's a new design I created for Michell Theisen to help develop and grow her personal and professional brand. Her cards are at the press and both her and I are excited to get them.

In all my sessions I work hard to draw out the person and communicate a positive message visually through photography. I do believe we were successful in creating a memorable image and design.
